It's been one year since the launch of the MyBB forums

On this day one year ago, the MyBB boards were officially launched, and the phpBB forums went into retirement!

This remains the only day in my life that I've gotten up really early to post something on the Internet.

Feels like it was only yesterday we were testing it out.

Don't mean to diminish the work that went into it but while there are some small improvements here and there for the most part I don't think it was really worth the cost of admission. It's not bad by any means but I think we over-estimated the advantages of mybb over (mfgg's aged) phpbb.

I think its a nice improvement overall but I feel like development sort of faltered. Feels a little bit incomplete. We still don't have anything for coins to do and medals still aren't fully implemented.

That's probably partially my fault, I somehow ended up the guy in charge of "doing things" when all I really wanted to do was make a nice new skin. I've hung up my tech admin mantle and I have to admit I'm starting to forget this place exists more and more lately so I guess I've kind of left MFGG in a way.

I think the MyBB forums are a significant improvement in terms of mobile-friendliness and being able to support modern plugins. Unfortunately, they're also buggier (especially when it comes to updates), and I get what Syax is saying about them feeling a bit incomplete.

I'm hoping we can add more of the Really Cool But Complicated Features (a shop system, trophies, automating Happy Heart/Submitter badges again, etc.) in the near future. Fingers crossed!
