I don't know how to explain that in a easy way, but what i wrote is basically what i felt when when i saw this thread.
It's because how unexpected that was, i doubt anyone was expecting you to leak soda man's real identity at this rate, you got this joke so far that when it ended it was just "meh".

Well, expressing concern that people didn't find your joke funny makes your joke even less funny. If a joke wasn't well received you should just move on and people will forget it happened.
