WIP Super Mario Bros. 3 Remade

I'm currently working on a project with a friend of mine on www.Roblox.com. Yes, you heard me right, Roblox. I (And said friend of mine) have got a good amount of progress done, so here's a couple screenshots of what's completed so far. Images are a bit big.

It's looks nice. However, this is a huge potential wasted, not because it's a fangame, because it's a remake.

I have never saw an good 2D Mario Fangame on Roblox before, if this was an actual fangame instead of a remake it would be pretty impressive (not saying that remaking an entire Mario game in Roblox isn't already impressive).

I think it's a neat experiment. I don't think it's a waste, I think it's interesting as hell. Roblox has a lot of potential.

I'm not making this into an engine of sorts (Mainly since I have barely any experience in scripting), as it'll more of an adventure game where the player travels through the game on their own (Or with friends) instead of being Mario and/or Luigi. I'm still planning it out as I go (Which is what I do most of the time anyway), so the final result will probably be different than what I show off.

One of the main differences I'm doing from most other games is making everything in models rather than have single blocks with textures. I'm not saying textures are the "easy way out", but it just seems lazy to do so.

Both of you hit the nail right on the head (Meaning you're right). Roblox is a fully-playable and free (in some cases) game creation and playing tool that allows people to make whatever games they want, share them with other users, and give and receive criticism in the forms of Likes, Dislikes, and Favorites for games. This will be a 3D-ified version of the original SMB3, having more (And possibly better!) hidden secrets, namely from other Mario games. I'll also throw in some other references when I get the chance. Right now, it's building time.

I hate when a platform gets shutdown just cause it's usually associated with mediocrity. Like when people assume something's bad just cause it runs on Unity. If you got the right approach, you can make great project from anything. I learned recently that there's an entire Pokemon game in Roblox, so who says someone couldn't design a Mario remake with it? I might have to download Roblox to checkout this project when you get further along.

Finally got World 1's map done! Thanks to the help of @FAVman33 (And another by the name of smallnoob11, he doesn't have an account here), we've got World 1's map completed. The Bonus Game isn't 3D yet, but I promise that'll be fixed. For now, here's some screenshots of the map.

I'm glad to hear that! Not many people in MFGG have Roblox accounts, but I'm happy to hear that you'd like to try out the game (When it's near a good enough state, anyway)! I'll hopefully post a link to World 1's game when the team and I have some levels complete.

As for how the level system will work, I was thinking of having each World be an individual game, or if it has to come to this, every level. Hopefully not, since some people have better, less-laggy computers than others.

Time for a bump. Not a lot of new stuff made in these screenshots (yet), but hopefully I, and the other devs, can keep progress up.

-Fixed an issue with some tiles where the black color/outline was 0.255 studs tall instead of 0.25
-Changed the yellow highlights on the pipes to light green


-Added a bridge with no shadow
