Many months ago, I made a comment at the main site on an issue I'm having with Mario Quest 2: Sonic Returns (old game by Thunder Dragon). I played the game again today and am still having the problem, so I'm posting it on the forums.

The issue: I'm unable to get past the first level because the game crashes at some point. Like, a message pops up saying that the program can't work anymore. It always seems to happen after I get past the wall of grass (you'll see a Thwomp to the right and Goombas to the bottom). I tried various setting in compatibility mode (Windows 95 included), along with other settings (like "Run in 256 colors"), and I still get the error message. I'm running Windows 7. Very few old fangames (so far) had problems with my computer, and when such problems happen, compatibility mode always does the job. Not for this one though.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is Mario Quest 2 incompatible with Windows 7?

Most Clickteam games run fine even in Windows 10 or Windows 7. However, I've encountered a handful that are finicky.

Do you have access to a computer that runs Windows XP or another older OS? If you don't, you might want to try setting up a Windows XP VM.
