YouTube is big and uncurated. Almost everybody with a decent Internet connection uses it at least occasionally, and some people practically spend their lives on it. Since there aren't a lot of restrictions on what people can post on YouTube (especially in regards to quality), much of the content ranges from bad to terrible. And with a large audience, low-quality content can easily find a niche and become popular - and profitable.

Also, since YouTube tends to appeal to the lowest common denominator, some well-done work ends up being ignored.

While youtube is full of trash, there is a lot of good content on it, for whatever topic you want to watch. The caveat is the creators who make it are usually comparatively quite small which makes youtubes fancy algorithm not favour them as much.

Honestly, it's mainstream YouTube I cannot stand. It's full of annoying idiots like Jake/Logan Paul who try way too hard to appeal to kids and end up being extremely loud and cringy. There's a lot of extremely good content on YouTube though, you just have to look for it (aka not use the Trending tab)

Like kids' toys that seemed slightly sexual if you examined them in a completely unintended way

Nowadays YouTube shows have bigger budgets (read: actually have budgets) so the content is different but I think it's pretty agreeable that content is also better most of the time

At least youtube is trying to take the "So called" kids shows down, also WHO MADE ELSAGATE!, Whats worse is that they ruined good characters like Spiderman or Lightning Mqueen AND EVEN SHREK

Most of Youtube is bad since anyone can upload and the stuff that gets popular is usually not my taste, but there are Youtube channels whose content I enjoy so those are the ones I choose to support. It can be hard to find them since they are often overpowered by the more popular channels, but to me enjoying Youtube is a matter of finding the content I enjoy and ignoring the content that annoys me.

Speaking of Logan and Jake Paul, they exploit the algorithm and draw up controversy to get more views. Remember when Jake showed a dead body on screen in a Japanese suicide forest, apologized, got more views, and dominated the news? That is how they get views, by drumming up controversy harmlessly through cringy rap battles, or through doing something to get in the news. Any publicity is good publicity, and toxicity is very easily able to contaminate the site.

And speaking of the Trending tab, nobody cares about those videos. If you look over there, you get the same kind of traditional entertainment that you get on the telly. Clips of late night talk shows and such.

And forget about the kids' videos! YouTube Kids videos are to children's entertainment as candy is to food. Addictive? Yes. Healthy? No.

In all seriousness is that the main problem is that they're not suspending people who deserve it, not giving people punishments that they deserve, not taking down videos that should be taken down. For example it took them two years to delete Toy Freaks and it was all Child Abuse (you can read about it on various websites including YT itself). Another problem is that almost EVERYBODY brags for Subs/Likes.
