The fools...

The Atari VCS, aka "the overpriced Ouya with brand power", is a runaway success on Indiegogo.

Looks like the base price is $249 for the Atari VCS Onyx, which is just a solid black console. Oh yeah, looks like no controller with that either. $279 with the wack joystick, $319 with the joystick and a competent controller.

The collector's edition, with the wood grain detail, is going to add about $20 to your cost.

There will be a bunch of old Atari games for it, and they plan to let indies release games on it too. So once again, just the Ouya with Atari lol.

I' never spend that much on a console that isn't for new games. They should've went with the SNES retro price.

This console could fail. The price is way too high, especially one made for old Atari games. Cost adds up quickly.

That looks pretty radical actually. They say there's going to be retro and modern games on it.

It sounds pretty cool, but yeah, also far too similar to the Ouya for me to feel comfortable.

Sleek as all heck, though.

Why is there a trend of consoles that only have games from the old days?
List of projects I eventually plan to finish after the indefinite hiatus is over, assuming I don't abruptly cancel them:
[+]Spoiler
Mario's Rather Unusual Trilogy (Mario's slightly unusual Boss Rush (Completed), Mario vs. Some Unusual Foes (In development), Mario's VERY Unusual Final Frontier (In development))
Sonic's Foray into Random/Unusual Zones (spin-off of Unusual Trilogy, in development)
Angry Birds Slingshot Frenzy (In development)
Super Mario Flashback: Really Good Edition (In development)
Super Hilda DX (In only conceptual phase)

Yes, I am aware that I have about 6 or so fangame projects currently in development at the same time. And yes, I am also aware that all of this is very ambitious.
+ List of projects I'm helping out with in some small capacity during my hiatus:
[+]Spoiler
Super Mario Bros Dimensions 2 (as a spriter, only for Mario's sprites)
MFGG Community Fangame Project 3 (as a spriter)
WordGirl ReWired (as a artist)

Same reason why there is a trend of people making games made from nostalgia.

The generation that grew up with old games grew up and now are having fond memories of those days, and they want to play their old games. Companies like Nintendo and Sega cash in on the nostalgia and use these consoles to get a quick buck.
