This has nothing to do with what Vinny was talking about, but since the topic came up on Bibby Team, I'd like to ask what kinds of controllers people are using to play this game. I'm using a Hori Xbox Series X controller that's meant for fighting games, but it works pretty well.

Progress is happening! I've updated most of the World 9 levels - I only have three more to go before the whole world is at least playable. Most of these levels didn't have major issues - a lot of the time it was just a matter of proofreading the E. Gadd text or updating the music.

The final regular level of World 9 is a bit more complex. On the other hand, it has a clever gimmick that I think you're really going to enjoy.

I've also been working on squashing bugs - it was inevitable that we were going to find some! Thanks Lyra, Nite, and Gate for finding some bugs to squish:
  • Bloom Path (1-1) was missing a block near the beginning of the level, making it possible to slide right through a pipe
  • Explosive Cargo had a random invisible vine that shouldn't have been there
  • The boss of Show Time! would sometimes turn into the World 3 boss and crash your game
  • The World 3 map had a bug where you could get stuck and become unable to leave the world if you followed a very specific pathway
  • The World 6 map had another bug where you could skip a level you weren't supposed to skip, potentially causing you to become unable to backtrack

If anyone gets stuck on the map, I can share a patched version of the game.

Also, as @fireball3k mentioned, it's helpful for me to know which controller setups are working - or not working. I've gotten pretty good results using my old GameCube controller on a Mayflash adapter. The only problem is the game tends to lag if the controller isn't plugged in - this seems to be a frequent issue with GM 8 games after you install the driver for this controller adapter.

I got stuck in World 6, I got the World 3 boss in Show Time! (just now too! and all he did was fly away this time without crashing! and then I reentered the level and he crashed it this time), and I've had the crash in Bloom Path.

I've gotten a crash in Coral Pokey Trench where I exited the sub but Wario was still in his sliding sprite and I had to replay the level. I didn't get stuck in World 3 tho, yay. Also we were able to move in the snowy Bowser cutscene, I encountered a funny bug where Wario/Waluigi are able to constantly replay the splash noise if you're holding jump and up on a swimming surface, Capt. Toad Strike's back doesn't have a ground bg sprite and Lakipunk's Skyway's tree leaves being cut off at the start.
(edit: when I finished Viral Outbreak and went to Icy Inlet and back into the harbor, E. Gadd's crashing cutscene at the Pier was removed. That's odd. Lakitu Lagoon crashes if I hit the boomerang throwing Lakitu)

It's quite a bit of issues I've noticed.

(Critiques)
(You mind speeding up the running and falling speed just a bit? It feels slow and floaty and I am not a fan of that, especially when playing as Luigi.)
(The jump input drops when I'm making a running jump near a ledge.)
(Why not add a menu in the overworld map? I could save without exiting the window)
(Long shot, but maybe do the AKR2 thing where the gold shrooms save after waiting a little so we don't have to recomplete the levels fully?)

I tried to put a review on this game on the page and it hasn't been put there yet so I figured this is better.
But yeh, I love that this is back. Even when it was annoying in the demo before this (not having the ability to exit levels), it's back and that's more that I can ask for. (Lotta I's here.)

@LooEGH Thanks for the bug reports. The bugs in the first paragraph should be fixed in the current build.

The other bugs are either in my to-fix list or things that I haven't seen or haven't been able to reproduce yet.

I should note that I can't change any of the characters' mechanics - things like running, jumping, or falling. If I changed the core mechanics for even one character, I'd have to retest every level, every Golden Mushroom, and every secret all over again, which obviously isn't feasible for a game of this scope. Many levels would require significant adjustments if we made even a small change to how a character plays.

I've thought about adjusting the UI for the overworld map - giving players a way to access the DSe or at least see the total number of Golden Mushrooms they've collected.

Yep and ofc. That parentheses list was just curious, keep up da good stuff. 👍

(edit: Also where's the current build you're talking about?)

Right now, the "current build" is on my PC (with some pieces saved on a private GitHub repo).

I was planning to share a bugfix release once I've squashed a few more of the more prominent bugs. However, if someone is stuck on the world map or wants to test out my latest batch of fixes, let me know.
