I listened to the new stuff, and the old stuff too since I'm just now seeing the topic.

My music criticism is like my pixel art criticism: I'm no expert and can't articulate how I feel about it super well, but I feel like I can generally spot when something is on the good, bad, or meh side of the spectrum.

A pattern I notice is that they kinda feel repetitive to me, though I'd wait on a better opinion before going out of your way to fix this.

The drums on Minus Galaxy might be a little overwhelming, also. The melody is pretty neat, though also pretty short.

If I had to pick three favorites I'd probably say:

- SeinQuest Supermarket. I like stripped-back instrumentals, and this is one of em. Also the eccentric horns are cool.
- Untitled Famitracker Song. It's longer and the songcraft seems to stand out to me compared to the others. It's got a longer melody, which is nice. Also I don't know how intentional this is, but some of the chiptune-y noise in the background sounds like something you'd hear from a crazy hip hop instrumental or something.
- Mega Man X3 - Dr Light Capsule remix. I guess technically you didn't write the melody, but you did make it something other than a lonely synth and I think it works.

I sampled the songs a bit as well. I think I heard some of your stuff before, but I'm not sure.

There's a weird pattern here: the songs are both repetitive and at the same time not repetitive. I think that's because you make a sort of varying melody, but the melody only ever uses 2 chords, and like 6 keys. Usually you'd need a bit more than that for a song.

Other than that, there's generally a lack of instruments. A lot of your stuff seems to lack bass especially, imo anyways. And some songs could need some pretty extensive mixing fixing, like the Minus Galaxy tune and its drums for example.

Yeah, I've gotten this criticism before and I definitely understand why. I think, often times, I'm afraid of varying it so much that it becomes inconsistent and messy, but I might overdo it and make a song that, instead, doesn't vary itself a lot at all and is therefore a bit boring.

I actually hadn't noticed this. When I get another pair of working headphones, I'm likely to go in and tweak that song a bit and, if I do, I'll fix the drums, if possible.
