I don't know if there already was a topic about this, but basically, the wiki needs to updated as it: Mostly has info on the old php forums, some avatars need to be changed, etc ect.

NO YOU CAN'T MAKE ME
But for real, the wiki can also be edited by the users, so if you notice a flaw, you're more than welcome to adjust the page to fix it!

The member templates still link to the old phpBB forums. This would be a good thing to update at some point, although we still need to modify a plugin to get the member templates to link to the MyBB profiles instead of phpBB.
As for avatars, I wouldn't worry about those unless the member has a character or "ref" they're associated with. It's nice to keep member profiles up-to-date, but it's also worth remembering that game profiles attract a larger audience than other pages, so documenting prominent fangames should be our top priority. Also, as Dustin said, you can always contribute things to the MFGG Wiki to make it more detailed, more up-to-date, and more useful. If you need help getting started, just give me a buzz. I'm happy to help. Course clear! You got a card.

@VinnyVideo Well, can the Phpbb profiles be archived as link only on the profile card? (Link name should be "phpbb profile (ARCHIVED)") I agree with linking profiles to MyBB, but I want to preserve my link to the old Phpbb profile. So I can view my posts again without having to hunt around for the link to the archived Phpbb MFGG forums. (I'm referring to the profile cards on member articles)

@Jaden1291 the Toad I can't guarantee that Wiki member articles will always have a link to the phpBB forums, but we'll see. You could always bookmark your phpBB member profile if you find yourself revisiting it frequently.

delete the wiki so people stop striving to be like "the good old days"

I miss the good old days...
...you know, before schizo and psychosis

@Yrr For the near future, we're 100% committed to keeping the Wiki around. Every day, the MFGG Wiki attracts about 100 users just from Google hits. That's a pretty decent amount of traffic. Nearly all of these people are landing on Wiki articles related to popular fangames, which is why we're encouraging Wiki contributors to focus more on games pages.
It's not healthy to live in the past, of course, but I'd love for MFGG's activity levels to be closer to what they used to be. Also, the MFGG Wiki documents some fun events and good ideas that might be worth reviving. Course clear! You got a card.

The problem with using the wiki as a vehicle to increase traffic on MFGG is the countless pages of drama we have archived (as well as many articles being dead articles about members and cancelled projects).
I honestly don't think many people who visit the wiki will be attracted to MFGG upon reading up on said things. Â

@Pedigree I haven't installed any tools to analyze people's behavior when they get to the MFGG Wiki. However, virtually all of the people reaching the MFGG Wiki from Google found it from searching for specific games or engines. Maybe they then start clicking "Random Page" repeatedly until they find a page that mentions some old argument. However, I think most people using the Wiki are looking for a specific resource.
I'll agree there are some pages that document old, little-remembered drama in more detail than necessary, but those pages are a small minority of articles on the Wiki (and such pages are almost certainly not what new users are looking for). Course clear! You got a card.

The Wiki's skin definetly needs an upgrade to match the MyBB forums though.

Things are SO TINY to a point where I can't even tap anything, so it would make no sense for the Wiki to be friendly towards phone users, but the Main Site isn't. Plus almost EVERYBODY on this site use a laptop or a desktop computer. 4. That would take ALL DAY, because normal users can't delete pages, ONLY Wiki Sysops. Also somebody who remembers the user at the time the user was active can add additional info about that user, for example a page about somebody called TehAngryVideoGameNerdFan500000 that only says "TehAngryVideoGameNerdFan500000 is a fan of a series on YouTube called "The Angry Video Game Nerd"" But somebody called BartdaSimpson can add info about that user, like a game they made and submitted to main site, here is the page mentioned earlier with some more info. "TehAngryVideoGameNerdFan500000 is a fan of a series on YouTube called "The Angry Video Game Nerd" He also made Mario's Super Duper Awesome Strange Adventure Journey.". 5. What standards? I think anybody who was on the wiki know the standards of making a decent page. (04-10-2018, 05:48 PM)Yoshi2000 Wrote: 1. The Main Site isn't even friendly towards my iPhone. T 1. The mainsite is currently being remade by HylianDev and WTL, and will be much more mobile friendly 4. Yes this would be a job for Vinny and Myself, we can't let normal users delete wiki pages for obvious reasons. But you could always report pages you feel are fit for deletion and it will be talked over. As for your other point, while valid I highly doubt that much info will be remembered from users who haven't been around since 2007 will have a lot of info floating around about them. If these users/pages are considered major enough Sysops can always un-delete pages. 5. There currently are no standards on the wiki, causing a lot of the pages for fangames to be all over the place without much of a coherent style to them, as usually the creator just writes down what they would on a blog/other social media. I also want to add, the wiki is a separate entity from the mainsite and forums, and just because the mainsite is currently lacking in some way doesn't mean we shouldn't push to improve the wiki. ![]() Lando Never Dies pfp by Plasmi

Most, if not ALL the wiki's information is from 2011. And many users are missing their respective pages.
I have the Thunder Dragon Statue. Also, I'm not gay

@gengarmaster Some pages haven't been updated since 2006 or 2007, while some pages have been updated within the past few days. If you see a page that's out-of-date, you can always update it!
It's good to have a member page for any members who have made significant contributions to MFGG, but we don't need a member page for every person who registered, made one post, and vanished. Making member pages is a relatively low priority - games pages and tutorials are more valuable. Course clear! You got a card.
