WIP SMB3 Bowsette ROM Hack (download)

Hey everyone, remember the Bowsette sprites I've worked on here: https://forums.mfgg.net/showthread.php?tid=1407

I finally went ahead and did it, with some slight changes to the sprites and now made a rom hack with Bowsette as the main boss. Here's the .ips patch file for it and hack itself. Probably need a LunarIPS to patch it to the ROM. You can use codes or Warp Whistles to get to W8.

Changes:
-Replaced Bowser sprites with Bowsette
-Changed ending and Peach
-Slight change to text in letter after beating World 7
-Super Mushroom changed to Super Crown just because...

Maybe I might do more or maybe not. Who knows. Might consider the ending where you save Bowsette instead, lol. Let me know what you all think of it, any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

NOTE: This patch works best on SMB3 (USA) or (USA) Rev A ROMs. If you attempt to patch the (E) European version, it'll cause the music to move faster.

As I've said, stay tuned for more and here's the update. There's going to be a LOT more changes!

   

A few things that are going to be changed are:
-More Super Crown'd character
-Princess Letters
-Replacing any missed Mushroom sprites with Super Crown because...
-And more

It'll still feel like SMB3, but with a more..."peachy" experience.
How much did you get done so far?

What are some of the changes you made?
Like I mentioned above, various enemies and characters get replaced with a Super Crown'd version. That number currently is at 25 done at time of this posting and already in the game, the closer to when I release the update I'll share some of the sprites I've been making progress with.

When do I plan on releasing this?
By start of year 2019.

Why are you doing this?
Because I need some way to put my sprites I worked on to good use, no one else will do it so it's up to me.

Huh...that would be a good idea. I believe there's an SMB2 ROM Hack of that, at least the sprite set was posted on here. I did plan on releasing an alternate version where you face Koopa-Peach (the Mario Odyssey ver.) and change the ending entirely. It might be something to consider for sure, where you're playing as Bowsette trying to stop Peach and rescue Mario.

However, if anyone knows how to change the firework effects at the end of the level when matching the 3 panels, please message me. Thanks in advance!

So just curious to know from some of you...any particular enemy or character you're interested in seeing be Super Crowned? Would like to hear it.

And if anyone knows how to edit the fireworks effect at the end of level, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, just sharing another major update for the now titled "SMB3: Crowned Edition" ROM Hack I've been working on!

   

Some great news too, I'm working to make all (reasonable) enemies into an -ette Super Crown counterparts. Along with a few others too. Not everyone is made into an -ette, that will be later if I decide on doing a "Super Crown Bros. 3" hack. So how far am I now?

-Currently at 50 Super Crowned characters/enemies! Still like, a few more to do.
-Additional changes to Princess Letters.
-Reworked some of the -ette sprites I have in now.
-Changes to map items, title screen, and ending.

Expect this to be ready early 2019! Thanks again everyone for your support and interest.

One thing to ask, should I make Super Crown varients the enemies in the VS. Mario Bros. minigame? It's only reachable in 2P mode anyways.

More news to share people, I've made an .ips patch that offers a different boss battle. Instead of Bowsette it will be against Princess Bowser. The one from the Mario Odyssey artbook design. So what new things will this one offer?
-Different final boss sprites, some different animations compared to Bowsette version
-Changed letter after beating W7
-New ending

I've made additional changes so now just about every sentient enemy in the game has a Super Crown version. Yes, even the Hot Foot ghost which is 8x16 pixels has an -ette form here AND the Mario Bros. battle mini-game ones too. That's at least 56 at this point!

Changed some of the colors for Bowsette's palette due to not wanting a green dress like Princess Bowser's. Re-tweaked some of the sprites too.

The fireworks and slots have been updated to replaced Super Mushroom with a Super Crown design.

   

Should be set early January when I release this!

But just wondering, anyone know how to add in a custom title screen at the start of a game like at start-up?

Well people, here it is. Took me over a month but I present the 2.0 of my SMB3 Bowsette ROM Hack.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Crowned Edition!

   

This version has made a huge number of changes:
-Reworked some of the Bowsette sprites
-Made 50+ of the enemies into a Super Crown variant
-Redid all the Princess' letters
-And more!

Also includes a bonus file where the final boss is Koopa Peach/Princess Bowser! Even a new ending as well.

It's happening everyone! SMB3 Crowned Edition has reached 1000 downloads in the first 2 months!

I've also uploaded to main site the completed sprite sheet of everything that was Super Crowned.

Still deciding on what the next Bowsette ROM Hack should be...I'll be sharing sprites I made before I did the hacks for any interested. Open to new ideas or suggestions.

Quick question...should I consider revisiting this hack and make it so Mario and Luigi are Super Crowned as well? I'd change it so all the kings were Super Crowned too.

Make it so only the super forms are crowned and just replace muchrooms with the super crown.
Less work for you and its more in-line with what the powerup does.
