Would a Hello Engine game that's actually good be able to stay on the main site?

I believe I read something in an update a long while ago that stated MFGG would no longer be accepting Hello Engine games. Understandable, nobody was putting effort into their games. But what if they did, and how much effort would be required for it to keep a permanent spot on the site?

If we spot a fangame made with Hello's Engine and a lot of effort was put into this one, we do accept it

MFGG has accepted games made with Hello's engines, both good and bad, for a long time. Here's a list of some of them:
  • Mushroom Kingdom Fusion
  • Super Mario Bros: Odyssey (Ch1)
  • Super Mario Fused
  • MYSMB1
  • Super Mario Bros. 2010
  • Super ImpossiMario
  • New Super Mario Bros DX
  • Typical Mario Game
  • SMB - How to beat your Bowser
  • Super Yoshi Bros

(That's not even mentioning almost all of the games made by Hello himself.)

The list above should be proof that Hello engine games are alright as long as effort was put to make them distinguishable from the base engine's content. All of them, including the lower-rated ones, add new stuff like new graphics, enemies, and/or cutscenes. I think that as long as your Hello engine-powered game doesn't come off as if you went "HELLO ENGINE? OH COOL! I CAN MAKE A MARIO GAME IN 5 MINUTES! NO PROGRAMMING NEEDED! I CAN MAKE 5 LEVELS WITHOUT ANY THOUGHT OR EFFORT NEEDED! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" and instead tries to look and feel like a new game.

In my early days of game-making, I subjected the world to a few Hello Engine games, like Marioy 2 and Mario's Steroid Adventure. (Though I ended up tweaking their mechanics a tiny bit.)

If a previous QC staffer - possibly even myself! - said they were going to crack down on Hello Engine submissions, they were talking about one-level games where the creator didn't even modify the title screen. We got some truly terrible games made with the Hello SMB1 Engine and Hello Engine 3/4 back in the 2008-2013 era.

I haven't seen a Hello Engine game in years - Gatete's engine has become the most popular engine in recent times. Regardless of the engine you choose, MFGG's QC is likely to accept a game if it's made with effort and care.
