I know when I joined I was like 12-13 years old. I would like to assume that for any internet community like this, it used to be 13-years-old. Is there an age limit at all? Now knowing most of the users are adults themselves now. I would like to assume that the content level of MFGG, itself, is PG-13.

I'd say that most of the people who joined MFGG in the early days were younger teenagers. Many of these old-time members are still around - so some of them are pushing 40 now! So MFGG's audience (in terms of age, nationality, and other factors) is more diverse than it used to be.

I'm not sure about the demographics of new members. However, I'd say that MFGG aims to keep its content "T-rated" at highest. MFGG is a fansite dedicated to a game series that's known for being clean-cut, so it would be weird if MFGG was this really edgy place. Mild swears aren't a big deal, but MFGG isn't the place for NSFW stuff or graphic violence.

I was just curious, not trying to enforce anything or anybody. Quick Google search, first result  "The age you can join a message board is typically 13-years-old." I don't have any information or know anything about the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). When the forums were fully populated, around 2005-2007, there were a lot of really young members. I started making websites when I was like 10-11, so I have nothing against any of it, I just was concerned about myself, known to throw around some adult humor, or sexy Paris Hilton pics lol, I don't know what is what with all that. As a grown man, being buddy buddy with a 9-year-old or something.

But really, I was just curious, as Mario forever and always is immersed in children, no matter how old anybody gets. Smile

Quote:In order to provide a seemingly fair excuse to ban the least intelligent of members, a restriction against registrants under 11 years of age was placed. Any registrants who were found to be in violation of this restriction were banned until they reached the appropriate age.

"Please read fully and check the 'I agree' ONLY if you agree to the terms of service and you claim to be at or over the age of 11. All registrants found under this age may be suspended until they are of age."

Because some promising members were being forced off the board as soon as they had signed up and posted a topic to introduce themselves, a suggestion topic was posted and it protested against the bans. It was concluded that the restriction be removed since a rule against "stupidity" already exists and the restriction is not actually a part of the terms of service As a result, one of the members was banned until they were of age had their ban removed, but may now post freely on the boards.

This age restriction was put back into place later that morning and the age restriction was bumped up to 13 and over because there had been confusion with the law as explained by COPPA.

Shortly after it was discovered that the information from COPPA was misinterpreted and the restriction was withdrawn once again.n.

I never read the forum rules, either. https://forums.mfgg.net/thread-195.html

Neither the main site or forum rules say anything about age.

I suppose the "general maturity" rule is something I can be more considerate about from here on out. Lol.
