Happy new year chumps! It's a me, Wario!
Today i'm here to give the contest that has more than what other bum contests don't have enough of....
ME!

That's right! A contest all about me! Where contestants have to make the greatest levels that shows how incredible I am!
Using whatever method that pleases themselves in choosing in this free-for-all competition where Anything Goes!

Well, almost anything goes. I'm told that their are some guidelines that contestants have to follow or they won't let me host this! So you better listen to what's said below!

SUBMISSION RULES
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your entry must be made for SMBX2 Beta 5.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your entry must abide to the SMBX Forum Rules (No content made with AI, No NSFW content, No hateful content, etc.)
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your entry may be disqualified if two or more judges are not able to play it, if one judge can't play it, then they will simply give a score of 0.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your entry may also be disqualified if the majority of judges agree that it was made in bad faith or if you or your partner becomes banned after submission.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your entry must not be stolen/recycled over from any other project or contest.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Only 2 people can team up/collab together on an entry.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Only 1 entry can be submitted per contestant/team.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Please try to submit your entry in the same format as specified in this post here: (https://www.smbxgame.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29822)


LEVEL RULES
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 The only characters that you are allowed to use is Wario, Wario Rewrite, Wario Land 4 Wario & any costume/reskin made specifically for the former characters mentioned. Any other character is banned.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your level can only have a camera resolution/game window size between 512x448 pixels and 1280x720 pixels.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your level can only have a maximum of 6 message boxes.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your level can only have up to 2 exits or less & up to a maximum of 5 star-coin like collectibles.
(Any chunk of text after a littleDialogue.lua "<page>" tag in a message counts as it's own seperate message box.)
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Your level should be beatable from start to end in 210 seconds (3 minutes & 30 seconds) or less.
(You can decide to leave the level timer off when uploading your level, just properly test that it's beatable within the time frame mentioned.)


OPTIONAL NOTES:
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 You are encouraged to post your level in this subforum for pre-submission testing, and/or ask friends to test the level
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Please keep in mind that, as the creator, you are the most skilled player of your level. Ask others to test your level blind for valuable feedback on fun and difficulty.
󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Wrong start points, music paths and other oversights will not be corrected before sending levels to the judges. Test thoroughly!

Anyways! Here's all the criteria that you have to follow to make a level as great as I am! You better not make me look bad with whatever you end up with!

RUBRICS
•󠁏󠁏 Fun / 10 (40% Weight)
+ The player enjoys their playthrough of the level from start to end.
+ The level is overall memorable, including moments to fondly reminisce on.
- The level includes moments of frustration or boredom.

󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Creativity / 10 (20% Weight)
+ The level includes clever ideas that bring a fresh experience.
+ The level's ideas are well executed & work well with each other.
- The level's ideas fail to mesh well with one another & becomes a detriment to gameplay.

󠁯• 󠁏󠁏WARIO-ness / 10 (40% Weight)
+ The level utilizes the chosen Wario's moveset or abilities well. And displays how powerful & mighty I am!
+ The level includes obstacles or scenarios that's best suited for the chosen Wario to deal with. And makes me look great while dealing with them!
- The level can just as easily be beaten with any other character. Especially if Mario & his feeble brother can beat it better than I can!

󠁯•󠁏󠁏 Stability (Up to -2 points to be lost)
- Points deduction for lag, error messages, visibility issues, softlocks or other technical problems with the level.


󠁯•󠁏󠁏 BONUS THEME - Wealthiness
- Only for inspiration more than anything, no points will be rewarded for doing this. But it is encouraged to try using coins as a currency or part of a game mechanic in your level.
Pssst! Here's a recommendation from me! You don't have to use this, but try out that Lakitu Shop NPC! (Or use this version of it if you can't understand squat about coding!)

Deadline for signing up on judging will be on January 20th, 2026
& the deadline for submitting entries will be on February 7th, 2026.
You are immediately free to start creating your level right now if you so please!

I can't edit the main post, so I'll quote an update from the host on the SMBX forums:

Wah! It's me, Wario again! I've decided to have a change to the rules! Now the maximum time a level can have is up to... 330 seconds, aka 5 minutes & 30 seconds! But I recommend to keep it beatable within the original 210 seconds (3 minutes & 30 seconds) as much as you can,& not make your level overly long if you plan not to, got it?

This sounds fun! I haven't used SMBX/SMBX2 before, so I don't know if I could get up to speed in time to make a level, but I hope people check this out! It'll be fun to see what people make.

Also, new members have a few limitations on what they can do, including editing posts. Once you have five posts on the forums, you'll become a full-fledged regular member. Sorry for the inconvenience - this is something we had to do after spambots starting getting a little too devious.
