Live action kid's movies are really interesting to me. They seem kind of hit or miss, most of the time missing because they try too hard to be cartoonish despite not being cartoons. What's your favorite live action kid's movie?
Mine is definitely the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
I hate all the sequels because they ruin the characters for me, but the original is legendary. The cast is great, the villain is amazing, the writing is clever, the soundtrack is gold, and it doesn't show too much (we never needed to see Will's father!). I love the twist it puts on the typical “pirates kidnap governor's daughter so the navy goes out to save her†plot by introducing the skeleton pirates, making it a 3 way battle between the pirates, the navy, and the skeleton pirates. The characters are all developed and well written, even the supporting characters. Overall best pirate movie to me.
