I'm not sure I know what you're talking about. I haven't used ebay in a few years but if I remember right when bidding normally your bid is a maximum bid and you'll pay under that as long as nobody bids close to it.
It's cool, but when I first used ebay I didn't really *get* it and just treated it like my 'maximum bid' was my normal bid and staked out auctions I wanted to win and kept bidding higher anyway. It's nice to not have to do that, but you definitely miss out on things if you're not honest about what your real maximum bid is.
