You all remember Minus Galaxy right? I hope so. The scope of the project has changed a little. Instead of being a big multi level hack we're changing up to be just a big GFX set for hackers/fangamers to use in their projects if they want the SMW feel but not the gross GFX of vanilla SMW. The goal is to replace all the graphics in SMW and then eventually move on to other things, for example maybe SMB3 enemies. The rules are simple:

• Default Super Mario World Palettes
  
• Must fit Super Mario World's restrictions
  
• Fit the style
  

What are the palettes? I'm glad you asked! Here is a handy infosheet on the palettes of SMW. (Thanks to 125Scratch for making this) The berry palettes are part of the first 3 global sprite and foreground Palettes, and the global forground palettes can be used in backgrounds.

As for the style, Mit made this handy graphic and some words to accompany it.

green is smooth shading, purple is rough shading, blue is dithering
dithering is allowed and in some cases encouraged, but only when colors are extremely limited and it's better done sparingly than excessively

A bit of information for people wanting to do tilesets and the like:

This is the amount of space in 1 CHR bank, you have 2 of these available to you when you're making tiles. I would reccomend storing the tileset on one and scenery (bushes, fences, and so on) in the other. Each 8x8 tile can be a different palette(palettes found above).
