I think I had done something that made it harder for me to delete PMs on the maisite

Try this:

Try going to Settings ( Three dots in upper right corner, then Settings), then on Clear browsing data section click "Choose what to clear", on next window click "Show more" and then select "Pop-up exceptions" box and click "Clear".
