I find Mega Man 6 to be easiest out of them all, even when using only the Mega Buster. Mega Man X1 is also pretty easy and should only take you over an hour to complete if you know the weaknesses of each reploid, specially with all the upgrades.
But whatever you do, don't pick up Mega Man 3 if you don't want to break your controller in half. It's difficulty is up with that of Ninja Gaiden

As for Mega Man 5, why do people find it to be the easiest one? I remember some of its bosses being pretty damn hard.
