MM2 is actually one of the easiest (if not the easiest next to 5), if you get Metal Blade and Quick Boomerang.
The first weapons reaches almost everything and almost never runs out and the second weapon kills almost every enemy in the game and will probably never run out ever. Both weapons are also very powerful in terms of damage values. Instant deaths and some cheap bosses like wily from the refight matches or beam trap boss are the only issues you would have in Megaman 2.
M.Blade and Q.Boomerang are extremely broken and making this game almost an entire cake walk (I died the 2ed least amount of times in this game. The least amount of deaths I had with 5).
I agree, yeah. Metal Blade is the most overpowered weapon in the whole series.
Quick Boomerang sucks though. It's range is terrible and it would be awesome if you could throw them as far as Quick Man does. You'd rather mash that button with the Mega Buster instead.
I must've found it hard because of using the Mega Buster only (except for the alien boss). That's what I do with all Mega Man games at least once lol. But even with weapons some parts are pretty hard. Heat Man's Stage is full of Yoku Blocks that confuse the heck out of you because of how many of them there are. Quick Man's stage is very annoying too, with its super fast instant-death beams killing you everytime (unless you use Flash Stopper, which even then doesn't last enough to get past through all of them) and Quick Man being the cheapest robot master ever, really. Then there's the fight against Wily which, as usual, will make you want to kill yourself, even when using the weapons.
If we are talking about weapons though, MM1 may have the most balanced ones seeing how all of them are different. Fire storm is awesome for example (you shoot fireballs while having a fire shield protecting you. How isn't that cool?!). But the difficulty in that game will make you want to commit suicide (I guess that's why you rated as one of your least favorites?).
Also if we are counting the non NES games, Mega Man & Bass is a hard one too (I even think it ties with 3 for hardest MM game). The bosses are so unpredictable on that one. I have yet to beat it without using weapons. Someday I will...
