That's a tough one...
A lot of people on MFGG use GMS(2) because of its low barrier to entry, but the way its language works is unlike any other programming language, teaching you some bad habits that'll be hard to unlearn later down the line, plus the moment you want to do something more advanced you're gonna run into constant issues and bugs. It's a decent way to make small proof of concept games, but I wouldn't use it for anything more complicated than that.
