Studio 2 should absolutely be the standard now. I have some minor issues with its design that I didn't back in 1.4, but it is overall indubitably the superior software.
My biggest issue is that there is no longer a keyboard shortcut for sprite strip ripping in the sprite editor. This is because the sprite editor is no longer a subwindow, but actually just a normal tab in the IDE (which is obviously way better), but this means that some keyboard shortcuts from 1.4 can't be used in there because they are also global shortcuts that perform other function. HOWEVER, Ctrl+Shift+P is NOT a global shortcut, so I have no idea why this extremely important feature was removed.
I also dislike that the workflow for creation code in the room editor is very tedious in Studio 2. Instead of right clicking to open a context menu, and then selected creation code to open up a little coding window, I have to double click to open a very large and obtrusive dropdown menu, and then selecting creation code opens an unnecessarily large coding window that, conjoined with the dropdown menu, takes up an unreasonable amount of space. It doesn't even conveniently open in a new tab! >
