This looks really neat! I haven't played the original Essence of Waluigi yet, but it's definitely one of the top modern fangames I want to try out someday! 
I like how that and this game look! The graphics are very cool; I like the gritty yet cartoony look. It kinda makes me think of Don Bluth's films and classic Rayman. It's such a unique look for a Mario fangame! You seem like a pretty creative person; people are right when they say that this feels like something you'd see in MFGG's golden days (albeit with more polish)! Good luck on the game!
