This page has everything from that game, including some of the freehand stuff I did back then, like the forsaken fortress and Majoras mask. I had to draw all that from scratch, Gohan too. While I've gotten better over years and it makes some things more efficient, some things naturaly take time.

Just to put things in perspective, when I bid a job plastering, I bid my rates to make $50 an hr if i make quota because that is journeyman's wage, try to make sure I'm getting 25-30 minimum. But that's my job. Everything else I do for bits of cash, like scrapping copper and small investments, those become side hustles, they don't pay as well, but they usually take an hr here or there out of your free time.

Let's call Minimum wage 7.50 instead of 7.25 for round numbers, that's $60 every 8 hours cash, no taxes. What that means is once I hit 8 hours I'm only making minimum wage, and if it takes more than that, I'm making inmate wages. I'd imagine I'd have many, many times that in hours into trying to fulfill your entire wish list, so I myself am trying to figure out what can I do the most of in the period of time I have basically like I would any other job. I couldn't find an "obj_shellbro" but I'd imagine the reason it's killing itself is if it's meant to die when you deflect a shell, it's colliding with the bounding box for the bro when it throws it causing a death trigger. My programming logic naturally says find the way the code is written and toggle in an extra variable with a short lived alarm (almost like the player invincibility after being hit) that way it has a fraction of a second to clear enough frames to get it out before reacting as it should.

I would think that if I write an AI for one boss version, comment the s*** out of it for you, you should be able to duplicate it and tweak it to other versions, it'd be a good learning experience. I was in your shoes once. Except I started hacking Super Metroid when I was 14, up until I was 16ish before I committed to learning Game Maker to be free of program limitations, and it's taken me a long time in my free time to do what I've done with my game as well as learning all this stuff. The problem with fan games is they're passion projects. It's usually the developers passion, so to get any real help at all especially quality someone's gonna want money yet nobody can profit from the project, so it's like is the developer willing to spend their cash to make this happen because they're that dedicated. I just figured I'd have to learn myself like everything, but I get it I'm a different kinda breed haha. But projects like the original MP2D and MSR388 especially, everyone knew Von Richter the lead dev, but as Betatronic, one of the artists for that game said when another guy leaked their resources (thankfully as to not let them go to waste over greed) that there was "many people involved who have to agree to release yadda yadda yadda" and from my understanding it was one of these "many people" possibly Infinity's End I've heard, that gave it to him because it was a dead game and said f*** these guys and their Supreme Court style deliberation over a dead fan game. My point being; relying on others, it's hard to find someone who'll help, with ANYTHING. I've literally been in situations where someone was dying and people would literally drive past and have walked right over a corpse and not cared, their apathy level is high. Those that aren't, again, being a passion project, the more people you have involved it becomes mote of a debate, or your relying on a coder or an artist and they can't donate their time anymore (a lot of us started as teenagers, high school kids, then went to college got busy as f***. Some of us started coming back around here and there, but it's between our work schedules and life burnout which is incredibly real at this time man, so be grateful you don't have to deal with that. But yeah, my consensus with my own game was if I had to pay someone to make a sprite sheet for a boss or something to save me the hours upon hours, I figured it'd probably cost me at least $50, cause that stuff does take time and especially for the quality my project demands, Metroid is a pretty HD game compared to Mario. So there's a balance point, I'd definitely consider what you really need done the most, and the coding is probably gonna go a lot quicker than custom sprinting. If it's one single frame that's a bit better, but animations with no sheet to modify from. Thats a lengthy and experimental process. Many hours of staring at pixels changing colors and one or two pixels that make the difference between a perfect shape and looking silly.

If you can teach me GML, I don't think I'd have to rely on anybody anymore, and that would be beyond great.

And by the way, the bosses I mentioned aren't even all of the ones I have planned for Interdimensional Fusion. I could've given you the unfinished list of them, but then you'd have thought I wanted you to make all of them.

Do you want more info on my project?

I can teach you GML, and I can teach you sprite art but you'd have to use GIMP 2 as that's the program I use, but that might be a good deal with your budget where I can knock out a couple of the complex AIs for ya like that heart system and stuff, and you got a resource for whatever you need for $50, not a bad deal at all. Just have to be patient with me if I'm busy and can't get back to you immediately cause I'm busy working irl, if you got Facebook messenger, add me on there @Layne Cobain. I get notifications that way.
