I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I finally watched it on Friday! It was fun. I liked the bright, colorful art style.
I thought a couple of things were a bit darker than anything you'd see in a typical Mario game, though overall the movie was quite respectful to the source material. I liked how it had a lot of super-specific references to a wide variety of Mario games ().
