What I like about forums is that even you were away for a while, it's not that hard to catch up, especially since you can ignore certain threads if you want. Discord is more like a "had to be there" type of thing, where you can only join a conversation right when it's happening. It's too much like real life to me.

Exaaactly, huge agreed on this, theres only so much you can scroll up onto past messages to even give input on something :P (or you cant at all because different conversation going on)
once again, discord is definitely meant as a chatroom, not a forum replacement
