Discord is a tolerable replacement for Skype or IRC. Discord is a terrible replacement for forums. Discord is fine for shooting the breeze and brainstorming ideas, but it's a lousy way to share games, art, or tutorials that you want people to be able to find through Google.
@littlelum Yeah, forums work a lot better than chats when you're busy and you want to jump back into a conversation that happened earlier in the day or a few days ago. That's easy to do with a forum - and highly awkward to do in an active chat.
@Thunderbro That's another risk of relying on Discord - there's no easy way to back up content in the event that Discord or a rogue admin pulls the plug on your community for some reason. With forums, running regular backups is fairly easy.
