Saw Princess Mononoke, thought it was good.
The themes of hate and letting go of one's hate (so that it doesn't cloud yourself) hit hard, the stakes get really high and dire, and it still manages to have some humorous moments sprinkled about (mostly in scenes taking place in Irontown)
also uh, the warthogs, i couldn't take em seriously when they first showed up cause i kept thinking about Pumbaa, the Bad Piggies, the boars from Asterix and other silly pig things when they were on screen (it quickly went away though)
If I were to recommend anyone this film, I'd advise them to be aware of the, almost comically amount of blood and disturbing imagery (I myself was vaguely aware of such but JC and I were still caught off guard (read: not scared just surprised) by the scene where Ashitaka accidentally kills two guards with his bow and arrow by amputating and beheading them respectively)
By the way after that scene JC and I were pretty much aware of the tone the movie was gonna go (somehow the scene with Nago in the beginning didn't surprised us a lot), so some of the deaths actually started to become a little bit funny, at least to me.
@Vitiman if you and your wife eventually end up watching the movie, I'd hope both of ya can stomach that sort of stuff.
I think I had more notes about the film, like something about how some of a humor in the scenes in Irontown are about how most of the women were originally doing.. a line of work I didn't expect to hear in a Ghibi film before Lady Eboshi took them in (they seem to be really cheerful to discuss it though

anyway good movie can't wait to watch Spirited Away soon
