Oh yeah, that's a fun concept!

First of all, what kind of genre do you have in mind? A platformer, or something else?

its a platformer! and if you want the story intro, i got it right here:

"But the peace was not to last.."
(one of the bowser jingles? (idk what to call em) plays
"A island rose from the south!"
"Initially Bowser was thought to be the culprit,
 but this battle was going to be much longer than
 thought."
"Mario comes to save the day!"
"But, on the way, Mario felt strange, nearing the island, he saw a blue flash!"
"But the hero in red brushed it off."
"But then, he couldn't ignore it. It came again and again!"
"Something strange is going on..."
