Has There Ever Been an Online Version of "Battle Mode" Mario Bros.?

Yeah, the NSO versions allow for online play. The NES online was pretty rubbish when I tried it, but the SNES online was a ton better so I assume it should be fine on the GBA NSO emulator as well.
