in the 2000s, Video Game Director's Cuts was really popular for their flash animations parodying retro games. they've all aged pretty terribly lol but they fit in very well at the time with the Family Guy-style humor that was so popular.
they made one in 2006 with "sprites" from New Super Mario Bros (actually just screenshot rips of the 3D models) and the creator Randy Solem (RIP) shouted out MFGG for having a sprite sheet from the new game.
i came here & the course of my life was altered forever lol
