Bubble Bobble isn't a game I "got", it is a game I always had, brought by older siblings.
It features two dragons, therefore, the question asks, what came first the chicken or egg? Bubble Bobble was released before Double Dragon, which, by the way, they are not alike at all. (Also, I can get to Mission 4 now on Double Dragon without losing any credits, but I still have yet to beat the game.)
This is truly a game worth playing, all ages. The same song plays throughout the entire game, all (or most) levels, a true classic!!!!
I played this countless times, original cartridge, original NES. 1-player or 2-player!
In middle school, I had a Texas Instrument advanced calculator, and somehow loaded a version of this game on the said calculator and played it in class.
And then, I don't know if you all remember GameTap (a versatile gaming program in the 2000s that was loaded with a bunch of PC games and classic videogames, somewhat similar to Steam, but instead all the games were available to play with a monthly fee, not an individual game 'buying' platform) where I finally beat the game for the very first time, after years and years of playing.
I absolutely love this game, for an 80s game. The items, the characters (which came back for the Bust-a-Move series), the enemies, the music, the 2-player fun, and just the delight in general.
My Rating: 9/10
