Before I knew what piracy really was, I... did a lot of pirating. Mostly GBA games. ^^"
The last game I pirated before I knew why piracy was bad was Super Scribblenauts, though I cancelled the torrent while it was happening and got a legit copy of the game a few weeks later.
I rarely pirate games nowadays, though I still mostly torrent GBA games (as I was born 2 years before the DS was released, and while I had seen many commercials for the GBA, I was only old enough to be able to play games on my own when the system was beginning to be phased out).
I have 3 conditions for pirating games, though I try and stay away from pirating anything past GCN:
-I already own the game (KH:CoM, MMBN3)
-I previously owned the game but no longer own it, or if it's scratched (Super Mario Sunshine)
-There is no way I will ever be able to get a copy of the game (Mother 3, Denetsu no Stafi)
For the 1st instance, it's usually to play a game at a much higher resolution, to use hacks, or to have a clean save.
The 2nd instance I try to stay away from going with, and the only time I ever actually pirated a game for this reason, my dad miraculously found the copy of Sunshine that we had lost nine years ago.
The 3rd instance is a given, though I still stay away from a few games even if the possibility of ever playing it is extremely low. I refuse to pirate Solatorobo and Door To Phantomile even though I will never have enough money to legally buy them. @_@
To be fair, I never thought I'd manage to get a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii, or the original release of Kingdom Hearts 2, so who knows at this point.
