For question #2, the one about Yoshi, in the Super Mario Galaxy series, it is true that Yoshi is a major feature in Super Mario Galaxy 2, but Yoshi appears, in planet form, in Super Mario Galaxy as well. He appears in Space Junk Galaxy in the secret mission "Yoshi's Unexpected Appearance," a surprise for me when I played the game.
For #3 (this is for you as well @VinnyVideo), here are the 4 games where Mairo is kidnapped in chronological order: Mario Is Missing, Luigi's Mansion, Super Princess Peach, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
