Navi here! After all this time I have a new update.
This project was resurrected around February and kept alive since then. I had to downgrade graphics a bit(my new PC is pretty crappy so per-pixel lighting and detailed world are out of the question), but it's still pretty enough!
We got a load of new characters by now(I lost count after one hundred haha) and more concrete plans about how the development will work from now on(i estimate that it will take at least until autumn 2021, and that's only if we can get enough help during winter).
While doing that I realized, that a TTYD knockoff will be nearly not enough, so we redesigned a lot of mechanics from the ground up. This may be a little bit unexpected, yet from all things we could remove from Paper Mario fangame to make it stand out more, we removed... Mario!
Captain Toad comes with their own unique moveset I'm polishing for weeks by now. Yeah, new moves, new upgrades and many annoyed Toad noises is just what we needed! Also there will be a lot of little touches like, for instance, tiny jumps they make here and there, appropriate slope behavior, chaining your cliffjumps with dashes and even more!
Battle system development, on the other hand, got kinda postponed to September, since we are still not sure about how partners will work, although I can tell by now that battle system will revolve around player juggling status effects and chaining attacks.
