I don't think galaxySMS, as originally conceived, will ever see the light of day. People have been talking about revamping the mainsite software for the past decade and a half, but no one has made significant progress on an overhauled mainsite. Some of this is a testament to the quality of R II's original code - while far from optimal, it's been good enough to keep the site running for nearly two decades. While the phpBB+MySQL architecture isn't everyone's favorite, it's proven to have excellent staying power.
The good news is we can still add new features and upgrades without having to reinvent the wheel. It's far easier to splice in new features to the existing site than to build new software. If you have any suggestions or ideas for new mainsite features, the Suggestions board is a great place to post them.
Of course, if there's a highly skilled Web developer who's willing to donate dozens of hours of time to build a new mainsite, be my guest.
