Well... someone doesn't know its true potential... let me tell you a few things about this "so sucky" weapon.
Quick Boomerang is the weapon with the lowest weapon energy consumption in the entire game (if not the entire series). Sure, its range is a little bit more limited, but this weapon is meant to be used as a close combat weapon (only it's better than most of the other close combat weapons like Slash Claw). If you hold down the fire button, you shoot repeatedly multiple boomerangs in a short amount of time. Do you want to see how fast almost everything dies with this weapon? Well fear not... I livestreamed it (in German but you can ignore my talking) and picked out the passage where MM2 really falls apart:

The only normal enemies in this game who are protected against it are Met helmets, subboss fish body and Pipis eggs (for which you would use blades anyway). Everything else takes damage from this weapon. You can kill almost every enemy in the game with this (even the big fish, who is otherwise immune to all weapons). Metal Blades are often said to be very broken (which they are), because you can throw it in 8 directions, but in terms of damage, amount of enemies you can kill with it and weapon consumption Quick Boomerang is way better.

Let's see what we have:
Let's begin with Fire Storm, shall we? This weapon... sure... it gives you a "shield" while being able to attack, which sounds awesome in theory... sadly... it isn't. Fire Storms projectile deals low damages against a lot of things (only enemy I found using this weapon to be good are the pickaxe guys as they die in one hit) and is limited to one bullet at the time. Sure, it has a larger hitbox (the fireball) but still, only being able to shoot one fireball at a time is a huge drawback (for example if there is a lot on the screen) and it really takes a long time before you can fire it off again.
The "shield" (more like rotating sphere)... well... let me tell you... it's not good in my opinion... want to hear why that is? Because this thing is not a real shield weapon. The rotating sphere that travels around you only hits stuff it really touches (it doesn't give you a bubble hitbox in which every enemy gets hit). Because of that, this weapon becomes unreliable, as it only protects from enemies sometimes. Enemies you want to use this "shield" function on are mostly too fast and sometimes slip through your "shield" that way.
Talking about mediocre weapons... Rolling Cutter can be good to kill stuff on the floor... but then again, you can easily miss stuff on the floor with it because of its curve... almost never using this weapon. It does do damage I guess...
Now then we have Ice Slasher, a weapon that can't kill anything but Fire Man and Wily Machine 1. However, because it freezes every(?) enemy in the game, it becomes super useful... too useful again to be honest. After you hit something with it, just switch to the buster and then finish the enemy off. Only costs one weapon energy unit as well.
Thunder Beam... oh boy... balanced you said? This is the Quick Boomerang/Metal Blade of this game (not really as powerful as these, but comparing it to the other weapons of MM1, it is). not only does this thing have an insane range and hitbox, but it also kills a lot of stuff in one hit (unless it's something like a big eye), doesn't cost much weapons energy (only one per shot), works as weakness against four bosses (Ice Man, Yellow Devil, Copy Robot, and Wily Machine 1), can break blocks that you can only pickup and throw with Super Arm (which makes Super Arm almost useless) and is the weapon to go if you go for the pause glitch (because again, large hitbox). This thing is so broken, that I often use it as my weapon of choice in MM1s Wily stages.
Now for the bottom of the barrel...
Super Arm... as I said, you can get rid of blocks by shooting Thunder Beam on it. So... why does Super Arm exist again? Oh, in case you don't want to waste Thunder Beam and if you want to get the Magnet Beam without glitches. And yes, the small blocks even appear when destroyed by Thunder Beam. The only "good" thing (if you can call that so) is that you can carry your blocks around and use them where you want... well... on the screen where you picked it up that is. Well, this weapon is already so bad, you can't even climb ladders, while carrying a block (which makes sense yeah but still). The price for this bad weapon? Only two units of weapons energy, so it's good, right? Oh wait, the others only used one so far... only two bosses are weak to it (Cut Man and CWU-01P) and you can't use this weapon at anyone else, besides Elec Man (who only takes four damage from it, which is not worth destroying the safe spot). Even if you give yourself the ability to use this weapon everywhere at any time to pull out blocks form thin air, every other boss takes literary zero damage from it (because it was never meant to be used at these bosses.
And then Hyper Bomb... well... why would you use this weapon at all? Sure, it does do some damage when it hits... but here lies the problem... hitting stuff with it is like performing a heart surgery. It bounces weirdly, it flies in a curve and it takes sooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to explode, I always would grab a different weapon and already killed the enemy with that twice as fast then with the Hyper Bomb. It works great on the Joes but wait... they only appear in Bomb Mans level... you know… the same level where you get this Weapon from in the first place (and no, there is no reason for doing it twice, other than points that is… but who wants points in MM anyway?). Let's not forget that this weapon is affected by gravity and falls down when you throw it, so it's even harder to hit something in the air with it. What is that? You want its power? Use Thunder Beam instead and get it instantly. You want its range? Hello Thunder Beam. You want to get rid of the enemy below you? Thunder Beam safes the day! Notice a little pattern here? The only thing it could have been decent at would've been the weapon energy usage... but it uses like Super Arm two, which makes this the second worthless weapon in the game.
So we have two great weapons (one of them is extremely broken), two mediocre ones and two super not useful weapons. So much about the balance.
Oh yeah, I know there is Magnet Beam. But what else do I have to say other than it breaks the game also in many spots? Also, if we want to be correct here, it isn't a real weapon, but more of a support weapon.

Yellow Devil is just remembering its pattern and memorizing (or if you want to cheese him, just use pause trick), Copy Robot has 3 spots where he shoots at and jumps as you shoot randomly forwards or backwards, CWU-01P is RNG but with Guts (only time I use it) done in seconds and Wily is very easy with Fire Storm (one of the rare instances I used that thing).
If I talk about a game being difficult, I would say 3... but for mostly the wrong reasons #BlameInputEating #Glitches #LagSpikes .
