Is this a good wip?

His head is improved over your last attempt, but the placement of his ears and the shading still look quite bad.

Specifically the shading is too pillowy and it looks like you just slapped the tiny ears (for the size of his head) on halfhazardly with no concern for proportion or perspective.

Take a better look at Sonic's character design, your version's face is huge while his spikes are tiny for example (probably why you have almost no room at all to place his ears).

I'm using the S1 sprite as a base, in case you were wondering. I'm trying to basically copy that amd upscale it without editing the actual sprite itself.

Don't try to copy the shading or stick too close to Sonic 1 style with it's flaws, it's pretty bad compared to Sonic's other looks.

If I don't, then it defeats the purpose of my sprite...trying to remake Sonic 1 Sonic upscaled. I'll fix mistakes, but I'm keeping the shading style. Sorry.

What's the point of upscaling if it is going to look ugly?

Speaking of Sonic the Hedgehog, I'm editing the Sonic 1/CD sprites to be more like Mania's. Here's what I have so far.



This is the full sheet, with some fixed versions of a few sprites above, so they won't look the same. All I have done so far is the first 7 big sprites, and the first 3 small sprites. Everything else is not edited yet. Otherwise, how do they look so far?
