I found this little gem on Game Jolt that is still in development and I am shocked that more people have not heard of it.

Also on a somewhat related note, why do people sometimes switch the run and jump controls? Usually they are Z for jump and X for run or shoot, but in this game and some others, the switch them. I don't understand why people do this.

Looks good.

There is kind of a sprite style clash happening however. The level tiles look like the NES ones but a little touched up but still kind of NES. The sprites like Megaman and the Enemies/Bosses look way more detailed Also, holy moley! That Ice Man is way too fast.

@"Auction Lemon" When I make games, I use Z as the default for running, and X as the default for jumping. On a QWERTY keyboard, most people will use their left hand for the action buttons and their right hand for the movement keys. This means you'll have your left index finger on the X key and your left middle finger on the Z key. The index finger is more dexterous than the middle finger, and in a Mario game, you'll be pressing the jump button more frequently than you'll be pressing the run button. In some levels, you'll be holding the run button pretty much the whole time.

That's my logic - I'm not sure if everyone does it the way I do it, though.
Course clear! You got a card.

Going by screenshots alone, there's something weird about Mega Man. Like, he's super detailed (as are the major character sprites), but it's a direct contrast against the tiles, which look like they're just upscaled from the NES originals. Also, I think Mega Man's health bar is too scrunched up in the top-left corner, and needs to be brought down diagonally a bit.

Otherwise, this looks like a fascinating visual upgrade to the original game.
