Hello, I'm working on my first Mario fangame and I would just like to have some thoughts and feedback, maybe some suggestions.

I'm trying to keep the project relatively small so i don't spend too much time working on it.



Planned gamemodes:
-Arcade(1-4 players): Scores will be based off a combination of time spent in each level and total item completion. When you start a level you unlock the ability to start from that level, however you will also start with a score of 0. When playing multiplayer you can't save scores, each player has their own individual score, the total score resets upon entering a new stage, and scores are compared at the end of each stage(the player with the highest score wins). there likely won't be very many levels.

-Star Chasers(2-4 players): Players compete to collect a set number of stars before everyone else. Upon getting hit or dying you drop a star

-Shine Thieves(2-4 players): Players compete to hold on to the shine sprite for a total of 30 seconds. If you get hit or die with the shine sprite the shine sprite moves to a random location on the map.

-Mushroom Gladiators(2-4 players): Players compete in an arena of some sort and fight to the death. Can decide winner to be based off kills or last person with lives.

-Moon Rovers(2-4 players): players compete to bring back a set amount of moons to their spawnpoint(the Odyssey). if you get hit while carrying moons you drop all moons you had in possession and they start to bounce all over the place. The more moons you are carrying at once the more sluggish you become.

-Note - Each of the previously mentioned gamemodes will have their own unique set of maps.

-Custom Gamemode: Here players are able to create a custom gamemode by adjusting player 1-4's win conditions choosing compatible maps, setting required amounts of players, editing/creating maps and even creating custom sprites. Allows you to set each players win condition individually.



Currently:
-There is only one star chasers map which was directly taken from nsmb ds to test the game. Currently there are no enemies and the only power-up is the fireflower.
