Hello! I built my own Super Mario Maker on my PC using Direct X. It wasn't easy and took a lot of time. Here are links to my Youtube videos.

World 1-1 - Mushroom Suburbs

With Yoshi

This stage I am showing is the typical grasslands suburbs area that you would find in the opening stage of a typical Mario game. The music is my own.

World 1-2 - Standard Underground Mines

World 1-3 - Forest of Giants

World 1-4 - Stream

World 1-5: Night Sky

The original Super Mario Bros game had a lot of stages with night sky backgrounds. I missed that in the later games.
The music for this is, of course, Don McLean's Starry Starry Night.

World 1-6: Piranha Plant Garden

World 1-7: Standard Cliffs Sky Stage you would find in a typical Mario game. This video feature Caped Mario (or I should say Luigi).

Super Mario is, of course, a trademark of Nintendo.
I got these Mario, Luigi, and enemy sprites from someone named AwesomeZack.
I got the foreground tiles from TetraVega.
I got the background tiles and other enemy sprites from jdaster64.
I got other background tiles from CrapCom.

That is impressive and good work for what looks like only 6 months. It's impressive when I see developers like you reach their goals in a short time. Keep up the good work!

Mariotroid. Big Grin
I actually started this project at the end of 2016. I tried to build my own video games after graduating from college in 2003 but I didn't succeed because I tried to aim too high (making a RPG requiring very advanced AI) and because I didn't have the right tools (Direct X: I am actually using the deprecated DirectDraw library). In 2010, I made a successful, if primitive, run and gun game. I then made a rip off of Kirby that was, again, too complicated. In 2015, I made a successful port of Bubble Bobble using this framework. Now, I am making a Super Mario video game.
Please share with as many people as possible.

This game reminds me of Super Mario Flash 2, good job!

I still have a lot more to do. After the entire Super Mario frame work is finalized (Mario algorithm, most enemies, platforms), I am going to revamp my graphics with downloads from this site.

So surely you remembered to put the classic enemy of "Steak". I mean "Steak" is one of the most beloved and memorable enemies in Video Games, let alone Mario. Removing him from this game is likely to bring the internet together to revolt and reign like it's the 1790s.

Anyway, I was going to give the wiki page, but here's a better description.
Steak is the one of the greatest video game bosses of all time, made for the beloved classic Paper Mario: Colour Splash. The fight has a dramatic opening, where some special character offers to give our 3-Dimensional, well written, main character a trial, to prepare a "steak". The Catch; it's a giant sentient steak. The only way our hero can defeat this steak is to grill it perfectly, using his brains and brawn in an Herculean battle between Mario and a raw wedge of bovine.

No thank you. The steak looks too grotesque to me.

I redid the second stage of my Mario game. I now have encoded that ultra crucial part of the Super Mario methos, the Invincible Star and Invincible Mario. Touch 8 enemies and you will get an extra life. This was a difficult part of my project as I had to redo some low-level parts of my framework, encoding an alpha blending pixel shader.

Is there a way to go left in the "Mines" level? I see there's a semi-solid wall to the left at 0:05 in the video.
