Hey, I haven't been around in a while, are competitions no longer happening? If not, is it possible we can try to get them going again?

Sorry if this has been asked by someone before (or even by myself in the past).

we have had discussions about competitions a little bit lately, and they do seem to be coming back, if not for a little while, since we already have an ongoing event, being the isometric collab.
this was discussed on the discord server, which i highly recommend you join if you want more information about everything and memes, but mostly memes.

We are aware of the decline of competitions. In the way I see it, the old system wasn't working and the Forums have been on the decline, so we're been trying to "fix" the competitions by making them bigger events, spacing them out, and trying to tie in the MFGG Discord server in some way. We have seen this work with MTA3, the game jam we held at the end of the summer, and the ongoing Iso Collab. So, to answer your question: No. Competitions are not extinct. We're just trying to get them slowly but surely back on their feet.
Also, Halloween is around the corner, so you can expect to see something soon...

Ah, ok thanks for the information you two.

Also, yeah I noticed there was a jam on itch.io recently. I think that's a good idea as it will inform more people of MFGG.

The competitions were definitely always a highlight. The collaboration looks awesome as well.

I've always entered competitions in the past, would like to compete again. However, school is taking up all my time to be honest. It's a drag.

Question: What is the typical competition? Does it involve submitting art? Stages? Gameplay video?

Now, if a competition involves submitting stages, will I be allowed to submit a file from my own Mario Engine or does it have to be a SNES ROM hack?
