As the thread says, I got a Nintendo Switch. Recently got Mario Odyssey and I love it. I' thinking of getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Pokken Tournament. First I'm going to either get Mario Kart or Splatoon. Which one would you guys suggest? My girlfriend would like Mario Kart

Mario Kart's better for same-couch multiplayer. Splatoon's multiplayer would require another Switch.

EDIT: Oh yeah and uh, later games... Bayonetta's great if you love high-intensity stylish-combo beat-em-ups, Tropical Freeze is just flat-out one of the best platformers ever made period, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is pretty dang fun as well. There's also a very solid port of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Switch that's worth picking up if you're interested in Time Squad but Dragon Ball Z and with a customizable character. I wouldn't go into it for competitive multiplayer though - but co-op missions are very fun (though I think you'd need another Switch if you want same-couch).

Some minor gems I'd recommend are The Mummy Demastered and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. They're both by WayForward and are both excellent titles. Mummy Demastered especially if you like 2D Metroid games.
Falcon Punch is the result of the Sun heating fists. It drives the Blue Falcon. Heating causes destruction of water into the pain, where it then hurts, creating rain. Rain creates flowing water in tears, which can then be converted into other forms through more pain.

I haven't played the second Splatoon, but if you're looking to play with your girlfriend I'd say Mario Kart. I like Splatoon on the Wii U, but the local multiplayer isn't all that engaging. I'm not sure if it's better in the second game or if it is even present, but judging by what Zero Kirby said it seems Mario Kart is the better option for local multiplayer.
If you're a Zelda fan, Breath of the Wild is pretty good. I'm also looking to pick up Tropical Freeze eventually; it looks like a lot of fun!

I have to be the only person in this board who doesn't have a Switch (don't blame me, please. It's just that $800 dollars is too much for me).

But knowing you, I'd really recommend you to afford for that upcoming Metroid Prime game.

EDIT: typo

I'd recommend Mario+Rabbids. It's basically Xcom with all the things I hate about it (base building, frustrating RNG) removed.
