What's the point of making my game so complex when all it is is a Mario fangame? Yup, one main core mechanic instead of several branching ones. Good idea? Good idea.

I've been trying to find uses for Mario's many planned abilities in my fangame. I figured I can just make them all the same ability. But now I'm worried about repetition. I'm just trying to figure things out.
