What: Dimentio's Demented Game Jam
When: Friday, October 26th through Monday, October 29th
Where: https://forums.mfgg.net and on MFGG Discord at https://discord.gg/CxSKHFB

What is this event about? Why, getting together and making some spooky games for fun of course! They need not be Mario related, but rather should be spooky, haunted, Halloween, etc. themed! A game jam is when a community gets together to make a playable game within the allotted time. The benefit of such an event is to be able to collaborate, get instant feedback and more.

Take this time beforehand to pool together your resources for when the Game Jam opens!

Everyone who participates will earn a Skull Badge [Image: skull.png]

and the winner, chosen by you of course, will be featured in a main site update!

The Game Jam will be opening next weekend at midnight (Mountain Time) on Friday, October 26th and closing at midnight (Mountain Time) on Monday, October 29th. Looking forward to seeing you then!

Yes, teams and romhacks are allowed. Keep in mind that you can only upload the patch and can't tell people where or how to obtain a rom though. Graphical hacks are fine as well, but keep in mind that you'll have to win over voters to get the win. You can participate however you like though!

Keep in mind, to keep in spirit with a game jam, you don't actually start on the project until the 26th. You can gather your resources, gather team members and plan though.

Damn this is a BIT poorly timed for me since I have the make-a-thon the next weekend but boy am I ever tempted to do something for this!

Are games not games? A ROM hack is just a modified game, and will be judged only on its adjusted content.

Ends as Sunday begins. Game jams are usually 48 hours from what I've seen!

But the description says its going through Sunday. That usually implies that Sunday is included.

The way this is worded sounds like there is going to be one, single game we all collaborate on? Or can there be one person working on their own personal project?

(I'm more for our own projects, but a collab project sounds very... DEMENTED! Hee hee hee. I'd like to see how it'll pan out!)

Pedigree did say we can participate however we want, so I'm guessing we can do our own thing for personal projects? Still, need to ask.

I don't know if this appropriate to put in the thread but, I hope you guys do more game jams in the future. I'd love to try my hand at game making again, but I'm out of town this weekend. So just a bad time for me, I really can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Same here - I'll be out of town this weekend, so I won't be able to participate. I hope we do more competitions like this in the future, though - when MFGG did Minigame Comps with tight time limits back in 2011-12, they usually got a good turnout.

Not sure if I can actually end up submitting something to the game jam, I've been busy with real life stuff alongside doing things with my friends, so I haven't had a lot of time to work on my game. I'll see if I can get something going tonight.

when I asked if we could make the game in any game program we want, i kinda added Scratch into that category since I have made games with it before, so I know it's possible
if that eliminates my chances of entering then i'm cool with it
