best and worst Bowser battles

Again, read the title. Also exclude battles from the spin-offs like the RPGs, sports games, etc.


SMW, YI and SMG's Bowser battles are the best (and have the best music), while SMB1 and SMG2 have the worst.

@Parakarry The fight itself was underwhelming. I like the weirdness of it though, especially because of the scene before the battle where Bowser Jr. tries to get Peach to swim in their sludge pool.

Super Mario World is my favorite Bowser fight along with Paper Mario's. I've never played enough of Yoshi's Island to get to Bowser, but from what I've seen that looks like a really intense fight.

I was never bothered by the SMB Bowser fights as they seemed appropriate for the kind of game it was, but Galaxy 2's was a let down. I also think NSMB 2 had a pretty boring Bowser fight. It was just repeating the same thing over and over, only with more projectiles each time.

My favourite is probably Galaxy. It felt like the big ending the game deserved. An epic ending for an epic game and story. I like how Galaxy tried to tell a deeper story than most Mario platformers... I felt Odyssey failed in that regard.

...I mean besides Mario Sunshine.

Super Mario Worlds is certainly a good fight, but I have to give it to Super Mario Bros. 1/2's, it amps up in difficultly nicely and were decently fast if you wanted it to be.

I know you said "exclude other spin-off games", but Mario Party DS has a pretty great Story Mode and Bowser fight in my honest opinion. The whole "transformation belt" or whatever it was called was a neat gimmick, and I'd like to see stuff of the sort make a return someday.

Yoshi's Island had my favorite bowser battle (and bowser battle BGM) by far.

I'll be honest, not too many of bowser's battles are that memorable for me, I can barely even remember his SMG 1 and 2 encounters...

But from encounters I can actually remember, Super Mario Sunshine's was... very weird... The battle was underwhelming and easy, the real challenge was actually getting there.

I'm not sure if it counts considering it's really King Boo, but I always found the fight in Luigi's Mansion to be frustrating. I really liked the concept, but it wasn't really well put together. It's the only flaw that I can see in that game.
