Overall, what do you think of Minecraft?

The reason I'm asking this is because for one thing, though I could be wrong, I've heard that outside the Minecraft community, there's quite a lot of hate towards this game. Though those inside it just love it to death. Which side do you agree on, and what do you think of the game overall? I myself think we could've gotten something entirely a whole lot better, but I still do respect it as a game.

I don't mind Minecraft, although I've spent a lot more time playing Terraria, which is kind of like a 2-D Minecraft.

I don't think it's a bad game, but I was never into it. I've played it but after about 15 minutes of messing around I got bored of it and never touched it again. I can see why people love it though.
