People always go on and on about the characters they want to see in Smash, but how often do people talk about the characters they expect to see? To rectify this egregious lack of discourse, I have created a game of sorts. It's very simple; you have six slots you can fill with any of the following three categories:
A Character (3 points)
Write down a character, and if they get added into Smash, you get three points. Simple. There's a bit of leeway when it comes to different "versions" of a character, so for example, if you guess "Dante from Devil May Cry" and they add Dante from DmC instead, that's close enough (though very sad).
The Series of the Character (2 points)
If you want to play it safe, you can just pick "a Pokemon character", and when they inevitably add Inteleon, you get two points. Efficient.
The Publisher/Developer/Official Cornflakes Distributor of the Character (1 point)
If you want to be as safe and dull as humanly possible, write down who the character is owned by. "A Capcom character" might not win you any style points, but it will probably win you one regular point.
These are all additive, so if you guess "a Mario character" and "a Square-Enix character" and they add Geno in, you get 3 points.
There are also some bonus points:
Third Parties vs First Parties (1 point)
You can also guess a ratio for first and third party characters, and if you get it right, you get a super-special point (which is worth the same as any other). It doesn't have to comply with your other guesses, so for example, even if all your guesses are third-party characters, you can still guess "five third-party characters and one first-party character" here. I won't judge.
Mii Costumes (1 point each)
You can also guess up to 3 Mii costumes. Guessing the series of the character is enough ("a Touhou costume", "a Hollow Knight costume"). Also, you can't guess costumes that already existed in Smash 4, they have to be new.
When crafting your list, do keep in mind that this isn't a wishlist, it's a list of characters you expect on some level, so unless you live in a fantasy dreamland where unicorns vomit rainbows, you probably shouldn't pick characters like Gex or Takamaru who basically have a precisely zero percent chance of getting in (though my #1 pick is Geno so what the hell do I know ). Also, if you want to participate after some number of characters have been revealed, your list can only contain an amount of guesses equal to the number of unrevealed characters (so if they've revealed two, your list can be up to four guesses long).
Anyway, without further ado, here's my list as a helpful example:
Four third-party characters and two first-party characters
Mii costumes:
Good luck!
