I have a feeling this topic won't get tons of replies lol. Does anybody here like country music?

Apparently country radio in the 90s was a big thing. I've had several close friends who haven't listened to country since the early 2000s but they definitely did as kids.

It's definitely fallen out of favor in the last ten years or so with the rise of Bro Country and etc.

Nothing says "the music of the working class" like rapping about tractors, am I right?

But I've sort of kept an ear out for more interesting country music. Chris Stapleton, for instance; his latest two-part From A Room is a masterpiece.

I've also been pretty interested in Zac Brown; not necessarily his latest album though. The Dixie Chicks are a family favorite of mine. Jamey Johnson is good also.

Does anybody else on MFGG have an interest in country?

Well, I never listen to it but I don't mind hearing it as part of other media.

Country is one of my lest like genres of music. The only thing I like about it is that it is tolerable.

I don't listen to it a lot but I like it. A lot of my friends make fun of me for liking it but I think it's fun. My dad listens to it a lot

Country music should stay in the country, preferably on some isolated farm far far away from my ears.

Most of what I hear of it is the super run-of-the-mill type. Not offensive, but not really something I find myself jamming out to.

I like the older songs that tell a story, like Convoy, Devil Went Down to Georgia, and Big John. They remind me of car rides with my dad.
I'm pretty nostalgic for songs from the early 2000's. I heard it a lot during a developmental period, I suppose.

I don't even know what the f*** is going on with the modern stuff. It's all very samey and it's trying to mix with rock, pop, and even rap. It's awful. Where I live even the hardcore country fans hate it.

Overall I'm not a fan, just kinda forced to listen to it. Most of it revolves around romance problems or celebrating hick culture, neither of which I'm interested in.
It does have the best christian songs, if that's what you're into.

I don't mind country music, although I don't go out of my way to listen to it.

I tend to enjoy older country music more than the newer stuff, which sounds more like rock, pop, or even rap.

i love country music, and how. given that my father exposed me to bands like brooks & dunn, alan jackson, and such, i think my favorite variety is the sort from the eighties and the nineties.

i've noticed that it's really common for people to say something like "oh, i like old country music, but i just don't like modern country music." okay, i'm not crazy about stuff like florida georgia line, considering it's music by the sort of people who actually can convince women to take their clothes off, but still. every time i hear someone say this, i want to roll my eyes- i get it, you only like old country music, as if that makes you special. join the club; i like david allan coe, bocephus, and merle haggard as well.

as influential as garth brooks is, i'm not a big fan of him. he's good, but most of his big hits are insipid in the extreme. i always associate his song rodeo with mario kart for some reason, but still.

Man, thankfully I haven't been subjected to listening to country in many years. I remember back in the early 2000's at some place I used to work there were people that would have their radios running during the whole shift that was tuned in to country radio for 8 hours a day. They would have it up loud enough that I couldn't escape it and there wasn't jack I could do about it since it was a privilege everyone was allowed. It was 8 full hours a day of hearing about drinking whiskey, my girl has left me, growing up eating cornbread, and doing the boot scoot, or something like that. It was a time I'd rather not relive.

Maybe my opinion would be different of it had the choice of music been more catchy and less the same ol'.
