So i was working on a little project. I wont spoil because im still gonna try to work on it. But i was working on this rom in tlp. All i was really doing was just changing the graphics/Sprites. Until i remembered something. So the program i use is called:Tile Layer Pro (Tlp for short). When your editing graphics in tlp. There is a string of scribbles and stuff. That stuff is the code. So i was like "Hmm what if i kinda changed the code? I wonder what would happen then.." So i actually changed the scribbles a bit and then i try to run it. Now i couldn't press the play button or anything. The whole thing was messed up! So i couldn't play.. So i went back in to Tlp and when i tried to edit the code I kept getting an error message and i wasn't able to fix it. It kinda took like 1 or 2 hours. And the whole thing is now ruined. Do you know a way to change this guys. Cause if so please please please let me know! I really want to post this and i've never made a rom so this would be my first game! And i really want to fix it..

can you specify what mario game you're trying to modify?

the reason why is because every ROM for every game contains different types of data. anyways, if you want to modify SMB1, you can modify the code using ASM patches (if there's any), or to modify the graphics, you just have to go bellow the game data. and by the way, i don't think i would recommend tile layer pro, for easier graphics editing i would use YY-CHR (latest version here).

Obviously that would happen! Two ways to fix:

Download that ROM again, copy the original unmodified "scribble tile" and paste it on your modified ROM.

Or you can go the other way around, copy your custom graphics into the clean ROM, which is a better choice.
