Hi guys,
You can call me LearnintoLurk. I first came across MFGG about 14 years ago, around the time Super Mario Melatonin was uploaded. (Curse you Tech Wing) I don't remember exactly how I got here, but it was after browsing through SMBHQ for the Neglected Mario Characters Comics (which were ancient af, even at that time) and accidentally clicking on some link that brought me to a p*** site. I decided to begin looking elsewhere for my Mario fix. I ended up coming here, downloaded and played Melatonin and crapped myself 'cause my PC's volume was pretty high. (metaphorically speaking, of course) At the time, I didn't have a single game console, but I was hopelessly obsessed with Mario. Coming across this site, I was able to enjoy some wacky fan creations like Thingio and Nintendo vs. Everyone. (or was it "Everything?") Funny enough, every time I tried to play a "top tier" Mario fangame like Stardust or SMBDDX, my PC would basically die. Eventually, I got a GBA and a Wii not too long after, so I was finally able to enjoy some Quality Nintendo Goodness,™ but I kept on coming back here now and then to see what the fans were cooking up. (Nowadays, I own all the current-gen consoles and play everything from Pac-Man to Call of Duty, but Mario's always been the bees' knees for me.)
It wasn't until two years ago that I realized this place had forums. Growing up, I was never a forum guy, which is one of my biggest regrets growing up. When I was a kid, my obsession with Mario made me the target of a lot of bullying, although it didn't bother me until I reached an age where I became more self-aware. At that point, I struggled to find friends. I remember coming to MFGG just to play games for fun, as I didn't really have anyone to talk to. I wish I knew about the MFGG forums back then, as I feel like I missed an opportunity to connect with people at a time where I really needed it. So, it comes to this.
I created an account just to say these two words: Thank you.
Just playing the games here made me feel less alone as a Mario fan, as it helped me know that there were others out there that loved the franchise just as much as I did, if not more. I really wish I ended up taking to some of you though. (I wanna give Tech Wing the beating of a lifetime) I know that the past few years have been pretty bumpy for this site, as people have come and gone, and the whole Minus World split in 2010, but I never want to see this site truly die, even if this place is mostly a time capsule these days.
You guys all came here for one reason: The red and blue bastard on the top left corner of the screen. Let that be what unites us all as members of MFGG. Or well, I hope you guys consider me a member. Imma end my ramble here.
P.S. I'm a pretty big Sonic fan too, but I tend to avoid those communities for pretty obvious reasons.
